Hunan University Design Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Hunan University Design Institute) is a state-owned high-tech enterprise after the restructuring of Hunan University Design Institute. It is a Class A design institute established in 1979 with a registered capital of RMB 50 million, relying on the advantages of civil engineering and architecture in Hunan University. It is a large-scale comprehensive survey and design institute with a rigorous governance structure and a sound management system, integrating scientific research, teaching, engineering consulting, engineering survey, design, engineering general contracting, and project management. It passed the quality management system certification in 2000; and passed the environmental management and occupational health and safety management system certification and intellectual property management system certification in 2018. It is a director unit of the China Survey and Design Association, an executive director unit of the Traditional Architecture Branch of the China Survey and Design Association, an executive director unit of the College Branch of the China Survey and Design Association, a vice-chairman unit of the Hunan Survey and Design Association, a vice-chairman unit of the Hunan Civil Engineering and Architecture Society, a member of the U7+DESIGN Young and Middle-aged Architects Design Forum Alliance of the Ministry of Education, a chairman unit of the Hunan Construction Engineering Cost Association, a director unit of the Hunan Construction Industry Association, an executive director unit of the Hunan Planning Society, an executive director of the Hunan Building Energy Conservation and Technology Association, a vice-chairman unit of the Hunan BIM Innovation Alliance, a director unit of the Hunan Engineering Consulting Association, a vice-chairman unit of the Changsha Survey and Design Association, a vice-chairman unit of the Changsha Land and Space Planning Society, and a director unit of the Hunan Design Artists Association. It is one of the top 100 architectural design institutes in China.

The HUST Design Institute currently has more than 20 professional design institutes such as urban and rural planning, engineering survey and design, and engineering cost, more than 20 research centers, several professor design teams or studios, and a subsidiary Hunan HUST Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., which focuses on construction drawing review and consulting.

The HUST Design Institute currently has more than 700 technical and management personnel, including more than 300 registered personnel such as national registered architects, structural engineers, planners, registered consultants (investment), and personnel with professor and senior engineer titles, and more than 100 teachers of the school who are approved by the Ministry of Education to engage in part-time design.

The HUST Design Institute has strong technical strength, complete professional configuration, and advanced equipment. School of Civil Engineering:

Only in Chu are there talents, and they flourish here; the soil carries all things, and the trees grow for thousands of years. The history of the School of Civil Engineering of Hunan University can be traced back to the Road Department of Hunan Provincial Yuan Industrial School, which was founded in 1903. In the national college and department adjustment in 1953, the Central South School of Civil Engineering and Architecture was established, laying a solid foundation for the development and growth of the discipline. To date, the School of Civil Engineering of Hunan University has gone through a glorious 120-year history, and has trained more than 40,000 civil engineering talents for the country and society, including 8 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 6 national engineering design and supervision masters. It enjoys a high academic status and excellent social reputation, and is striving towards the goal of building a "world-class discipline".

The school has 9 educational and research institutions, including the Department of Architectural Engineering, the Department of Bridge Engineering, the Department of Water Engineering and Science, the Department of Building Environment and Equipment Engineering, the Department of Geotechnical and Underground Engineering, the Department of Construction Management and Disaster Prevention Engineering, the Department of Road and Traffic Engineering, the Department of Intelligent Construction, and the Building Materials Research Center. The school has 5 undergraduate majors, including civil engineering, water supply and drainage science and engineering, building environment and energy application engineering, engineering management, and intelligent construction. The college has two science master's degree programs in the first-level disciplines of civil engineering and transportation engineering, two professional master's degree programs in civil water conservancy and MEM engineering management (including part-time), two doctoral degree programs in the first-level discipline of civil engineering and the second-level discipline of road and railway engineering, a doctoral degree program in civil water conservancy (professional) and two postdoctoral research stations in civil engineering and transportation engineering. The first-level discipline of civil engineering was listed as a national key discipline in 2007.

The college currently has more than 3,200 full-time students, including more than 1,800 undergraduates and more than 1,400 postgraduates. In recent years, the school has won the first National Textbook Construction Award National Textbook Construction Advanced Collective, 2 second prizes of the National Teaching Achievement Award, and 1 second prize of the First National Textbook Construction Award National Excellent Textbook; 1 national characteristic major, 4 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, 6 national first-class undergraduate courses, and 23 national planning textbooks; 2 national gold medals and 3 bronze medals in the "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 1 "100 Graduate Student Party Member Model" of National Universities, and 1 National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Annual News Figure.

The college currently has more than 170 faculty and staff, including 61 professors, 63 associate professors, and 15 assistant professors.
